Diamond Exploration

The diamond journey begins with exploration. Geologists search for areas where diamonds may exist deep within the earth. They study rock formations, soil samples, and geological data to locate potential diamond deposits

Advanced technologies such as satellite imaging and geological surveys help identify possible mining locations. This stage is important to determine where diamonds can be extracted commercially.

Diamond Mining

Once a diamond deposit is found, mining operations begin to extract rough diamonds from the earth. Diamonds are usually mined from kimberlite pipes or alluvial deposits.

Mining can be done through open-pit mining, underground mining, or riverbed mining depending on the location of the deposit. Large machines and heavy equipment are used to remove the rock containing diamonds.

Sorting and Cleaning

Faceting

Polishing

Diamond Grading

Once polishing is complete, the diamond is evaluated and graded. Experts assess the diamond using the internationally recognized 4Cs: Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat Weight.

Professional gemological laboratories such as GIA or IGI provide certification that verifies the diamond’s quality and characteristics.

Diamond grading helps determine the value and authenticity of the stone in the market.

Diamond Setting in Jewelry

After grading, the polished diamond is ready to be set into jewelry pieces such as rings, necklaces, earrings, or bracelets.

Skilled jewelers carefully place the diamond into metal settings like prong, bezel, or pave settings. The setting secures the stone while enhancing its brilliance.
